Historic photo albums

The following historical photo albums show Greenmount/Coolangatta Beach and Kirra Beach over the last 100 years. The images of both beaches show how beach widths have fluctuated naturally over time in response to erosive storms, calm periods of beach rebuilding and variations in natural longshore sand flow. They also show the impact following the extension of the Tweed River training walls in the 1960s when the southern Gold Coast beaches began being deprived of sand.
